Community Improvement Proposal Presentations
The Venice Neighborhood Council announces presentations by 30 applicants who have submitted projects requesting Community Improvement funds. The presentations are scheduled for Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Westminster Elementary School Auditorium, 1010 Abbot Kinney Blvd, beginning at 6:30 PM.
The Council earlier requested proposals for projects to improve the quality of life in the Venice community with up to $40,000 available for award during 2008-2009. The goal of the projects was to "build community through the implementation process and enhance the neighborhood once complete."
Applications were distributed widely and proposals covering a wide range of community improvements were received from 41 schools, organizations, and individuals by the March 1 deadline.
On April 3, applicants whose proposals met the technical criteria of the application process and qualified for City of Los Angeles funding will make a short presentation to the VNC Board of Officers, the VNC Neighborhood Committee and the Venice community. The meeting will feature a non-binding straw-poll of Venice stakeholders in attendance.
Linda Lucks, Venice Neighborhood Council Vice President and Chair of the Neighborhood Committee said "This event is a wonderful opportunity for Venice stakeholders to participate in the improvement of their community."
