These rankings were arrived at following an extensive review process. The applications were initially scanned by staff to verify that they met the program requirements. The budget pages were then reviewed by the Budget Committee to assure that proposed project expenditures would be payable under City of Los Angeles guidelines. The applications were subsequently evaluated by the Neighborhood Committee using the following criteria, as stated in the application packet:

1. The budget is realistic, appropriate, and supported with quotes.
2. The organization or individual is capable of completing the project.
3. The work plan is detailed, specific, and feasible.
4. The project is supported by the community.
5. The number of Venice stakeholders that will benefit from this project is realistic.
6. The project implementation process will build community.
7. The completed project will enhance the community.

The recommended rankings and funding were unanimously approved by the Neighborhood Committee on January 4, 2012.

All applicants were invited to make a short (2 minute) presentation of their projects at the VNC Board meeting on Tuesday, January 17, 2012. After the presentations, the Board voted to approve the rankings as presented by the Neighborhood Committee.
